For Brenden: Why the U.S. should welcome the emergence of a viable third political party

I posted this last night on a blog titled debatethedebate.blogspot.com in response to a poster that was debating the relevance of a third political party here in the United States.

You can lead a horse to water...

I wonder what would happen if people everywhere would take up the practice of questioning everything, all of the time. Because, anytime an individual gets out of the proverbial box and engages in critical and creative thought, something original and fascinating is bound to happen... Let me offer an example of the natural cycle that any organized entity is bound to experience.

When universities were first formed, the point was this; to engage people in progressive thought processes that would propel the human family forward through the fostering of curiosity, creativity, innovation and critical thought. Of course, every so often, the educational process becomes diluted, predictable and artificially controlled. Thusly, one or more inspired souls will scandalize the collegiate experience via some utterly preposterous declaration such as; the right to die on ones own terms or, that the earth is actually round and the sun is not the center of the Universe or, by (hush yo' mouth) daring to suggest that we should all live free from oppression. The ivory tower then combusts spontaneously and the Phoenix eventually arises from it's desecration, renewed. Brenden, you do not have to accept any of this but the truth is that the irrepressible socio-political evolution of any nation or other organized entity is necessary for it's continued survival. The United States of America (my beloved) is no exception. This nation is
being called upon by a small group of her citizens and her current circumstances to evolve or suffer the fate of bygone empires. That Americans have every reason to welcome a third party into a broken and tired political system, should hardly be a topic of intelligent debate!
